CANCER COACHING

What is Cancer Coaching?

Like any type of transition coaching, cancer coaching is an ongoing supportive relationship that is designed to help move a client from point A to point B and enhance the quality of his/her life. Cancer survivors face additional challenges as they transition through the various points on the cancer journey.  As a cancer survivor myself, I am uniquely equipped to apply coaching principles, techniques and tools, to support you through each of points on your journey to your best life.

Diagnosis

Hearing the words “you have cancer” can be an overwhelming experience.  Life as you know it changes instantly and your plans and normal life are put on hold, while you navigate a new world of tests, doctors, and treatment.  Working with a cancer coach can help you find quiet in the center of chaos, enabling you to get the clarity you need to make decisions and create a plan of action for your treatment and ultimate healing.

During Treatment

Kate M - breast cancer survivor

I made it through my treatment pretty well, but when I was finished, I wasn't sure how to go back to my old 'normal' life.  Hope and I worked together to create a plan for transitioning back into my job, managing my post-treatment wellness plan and coming up with tactics to deal with the fears I had about cancer coming back.  Hope really understood the challenges I had in communicating with my friends and family about how my cancer had changed things in my life. Life is different now, but I feel much more confident about moving forward and living it.

Cancer treatment can sap your strength, making it difficult for you to enjoy daily life. Cancer coaching during this part of the journey focuses on helping you  build a plan for living your best life while you go through treatment. Work with a coach to prioritize where to spend your precious energy, and develop strategies to minimize the effects of active treatment on your day-to-day activities, helping you find both respite and joy during a difficult time.

After Treatment

Survivors know that although treatment is over, often the journey has just begun.   Whether you are just exiting active treatment, or are a long-term survivor, working with a coach can help you to rebuild and rejuvenate all aspects of your life.  Whether you want to create ongoing wellness plans, improve and strengthen relationships, address the ongoing emotional aspects of living through cancer, or change the path your life is taking, a good coach can be your partner on the journey.
